Perfect Ruth. Your friend is correct, baseball is the only sport to really "do" Opening Day correctly. I believe it is due to the "spring" start, or at least it is for me. The earth awakening and baseball returning, they go hand in hand.

I didn't go to the White Sox home opener this year, but I'd have to believe I've been to 50 or so in my lifetime. Can't begin to say how many games. As you mentioned some are just feelings and for me others really stand out for either who I was with or an amazing play / outcome. I do have a pretty good memory though.

I recently asked my mom if she remembered the first time I was taken to a game. She didn't know the exact date, nor who took me, and of course I didn't remember, but she said it was the summer I was turning (or had just turned) one as she knows she was pregnant with my sister Linda who is 13 months younger than me. It's been a frequent reoccurring event ever since.

I'm glad you followed Cito's advice, wish someone had given it to me sooner. I enjoy your posts and if you're ever in Chicago and want to catch a White Sox game, let me know.

This is great, Ruth, thanks. I've really been enjoying your newsletter. I agree that baseball is a feeling, one that's been a significant part of my life for over 40 years. And Cito was right, glad you've followed through.
